Shot for the Day (02 March 2019)

Hopes Nose, situated close to Torquay on the southern coastline of Devon, was not somewhere I had been before.  Fortunately, the light was decent and the tide was compliant, albeit somewhat frisky. From the water’s edge, Ore Stone island is visible below the rising sun. My daughter joined me on location for this shoot. It was a treat to share such a lovely view with her.

Shot for the Day (08 June 2017)

Stormy weather ahead.

The last vestiges of light were visible in the opalescent sky. Shortly after this shot was taken, the heavens opened and the rain did not stop for the next two days.

Believe it or not, this was taken on a very popular beach in Devon, just at a very unpopular time (i.e. moments before a torrential rain storm). Definitely worth it!

Shot for the Day (14 April 2017)

The waters around La Palma island are pretty rough.  Not a location for beach swimming.  Behind where I took this shot was a swimming pool hewn from the natural rocks and filled by the sea, called La Fajana.  I took this shot, looking out to sea, from a platform about 4m about the surf.  The occasional wave still managed to lap my feet the swell was that rough.

Shot for the Day (23 February 2017)

Walking along the beach in Exmouth last week, the clouds took on a pattern similar to the sand bumps on the shore.  My new Formatt-Hitech filter gave a warm purple tone instead of the customary cold blue of the Lee filters, lifting the colour of the scene. I was so pre-occupied with the scene that I did not notice the progressive surf.  Moments later, a wave washed in from my left and soaked me to the knee.  Worth it though.
